Lianne

Disc 1:

1. Invocation - short blah, blah, blah child's pose - 3 mins

2 and 3. Chandra Namaskar - very similar to, but easier than sun sal, and slower moving - these go for 15 minutes with Shiva providing cueing, and then another 12 mins with a woman chanting mantras - which Shiva translates for the first half or so

4. Nadi Shodhana Pranyama ( alternate nostril breathing) - gets into some esoteric stuff like ida and pingala nadis - 15 mins

5. So Hum meditation - more nadi talk and throw in some chakra talk for good measure - 17 mins

6. Lunar Savasana - a nice guided relaxation - language a little flowery at the end - 7 mins

about 70 mins total disc 1

Disc 2:

1. Invocation - similar to above - 2 mins

2. The secret ball society - roll around on a tennis ball to release your glute and upper back muscles - nice - 16 mins

3. Yoga Nidra - she calls this savasana on the recording, and that's what it pretty much seems like to me - a long guided relaxation - 19 mins ( I thought yoga nidra was something different)

4. Savasana 2 - a very short intro (like maybe 30 secs) followed by about 6 mins of mellow music - not guided

5. Savasana 3 - same as Sav.2 but longer music section - 13 mins

about 56 minutes

What I really liked:

- the bamboo flute playing by Manose - hauntingly beautiful

- the secret ball society

What disappointed me:

-I expected more guided savasana, not just 2 tracks of mellow music

What to be aware of:

Not for beginners, should have some prior yoga, pretty esoteric and high on the woo-woo scale. Some (never me, ha! ) might say that parts of it are kind of cheesy.

For example this is Savasana 3:

Shiva says, "On a day when the wind is perfect , the sail just needs to open and the world is full of beauty. Today is such a day. The living heart gives to us as does the luminous moon. Both caress the earth with great tenderness. There is a breeze that can enter the soul, this love we know moves us in rhythm. On a day when the wind is perfect, the sail just needs to open and the love begins. Today is such a day." Followed by 12 more minutes of gentle piano.
